6-52 Air Defense Artillery Battalion
SUWON AIR BASE — With the summer season just around the corner, Soldiers from the 6th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery recently went through a comprehensive summer safety training here, learning how to prevent and react to some of the common safety hazards associated with this time of the year.
The training, from May 23-25, consisted of classroom instruction and practical exercises on topics such as fire and grilling safety, hot weather injury prevention, survival swimming, and motor vehicle safety training.
Sergeant Keith Myles is an avid swimmer who is looking forward to the wide variety of water sports available in Korea. So he welcomed the chance to hone his skills at the survival stroke, a technique which conserves energy and prevents muscle fatigue in case a swimmer needs to stay afloat for a prolonged time.
“This is great training,” Myles said. “Soldiers are learning how to prevent overexertion and increase survivability in the water if they ever fell overboard on a boat or hurt themselves during water sports.”
According to Myles, all swimmers, no matter the skill level, are “susceptible to muscle fatigue,” so it is crucial for everyone to learn the survival stroke.
The instructors separated the advanced swimmers from less skilled ones and provided individual feedback on ways to improve.
“I cannot emphasize how important water safety training is, especially as we head into summer,” said 1st Lt. Steve Bonner, one of the primary instructors and a former Army diver.
Myles concluded, “The training has definitely made me feel more prepared and more equipped next time I go into the water.”
In addition to water sports, motorcycle riding is another popular summer past time here on the Peninsula.
First Lieutenant Steve Voglezon has been riding motorcycles for over a year now and is planning to explore the beautiful Korean countryside this summer with his Hyosung GT650R motorcycle.
During the motorcycle safety portion, Voglezon goes over his safety checklist three times to make sure he and his bike are ready for the road. Voglezon is participating in the battalion’s motorcycle mentorship club, which teaches riders safety lessons on conducting inspections and checks, as well as donning appropriate protective gear.
An essential part of the motorcycle training included road familiarization.
“We paired inexperienced riders with experienced riders to foster a creative environment for responsible riding,” said Capt. Jeffrey Freeman, officer in charge of the battalion’s motorcycle mentorship program.
As the team of Harleys and Japanese sports bikes cruised through the winding roads of Osan and Pyeontaek, participants also learned valuable lessons on group riding techniques.
“There is a common misconception that it is dangerous to ride in Korea,” said Lt. Col. William Darne, 6-52 commander and a motorcycle enthusiast. “However, through the motorcycle mentorship program, we want to educate everyone that by wearing the appropriate protective gear, practicing defense riding techniques, and maintaining constant situation awareness, riding motorcycle in Korea can indeed be fun, fulfilling, and safe.”

CAMP HUMPHREYS – Soldiers, Marines and Airmen had a chance to speak with the military’s senior enlisted member during a town hall meeting here May 4.
Marine Sgt. Maj. Bryan B. Battaglia, senior enlisted advisor to the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stopped by the Camp Humphreys Super Gym as part of his week-long visit to Korea.
Battaglia started with a good-natured ribbing for what he deemed an insufficient opening “Hooah” from audience members.
He then dove into the issues at hand and stressed the meeting needed to be interactive in order to be effective.
He encouraged noncommissioned officers to get to the root of issues rather than just dealing with the surface. He recalled seeing a corporal who had a junior enlisted member in his squad that had bounced checks. The corporal worked with the servicemember to pay off the debts and counseled him about not doing it again. But it turned out the servicemember lacked the ability to balance his checkbook, so the main issue stayed unresolved. Battaglia called it “a Band-Aid on a sucking chest wound.”
He also discussed the Department of Defense drawdown. He noted he experienced a drawdown when he joined the military in 1979. “I was one of the junior (Marines) at the time and I had Vietnam veterans show me how to do it and we’ll do it again,” he said. “We have a military that is highly professional because it’s an all-volunteer force that wants to be here.”
But, he added, however things play out, the military must and will remain strong.
“Only the military has a commitment of this kind of magnitude,” he said. “It’s more than a job and it’s an honor and privilege to serve. American society believes in us and we can never afford to lose their trust and confidence.”
Battaglia touched on the importance of family, because of its importance to Soldier readiness and he addressed suicide prevention. He then opened the floor to questions. Audience members seemed reluctant to address a servicemember of his stature until Battaglia told them, “I traveled 6,500 miles and I’m not leaving until I get at least one question.”
That lightened the mood and the first question addressed the status of Humphreys transformation. “Everything is still on track,” he said. “I don’t see any possibility of cancelling the plan. And what a opportunity this is. Many of you may not be around when it’s completed, but you may think, ‘I’ve got to come back.’”
Another question focused on retirement changes. Battaglia said, “I have a lot of information on that because I’m getting close to retirement. We want the best retirement plan for our servicemembers. We have your best interests in mind and we are studying to see if the plan is the best one.”
As the military’s most senior noncommissioned officer, Battagllia regularly interacts with servicemembers in environments such as the Camp Humphreys town hall. He uses the information he collects to advise the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Secretary of Defense, on matters involving joint and combined total force integration and enlisted members. It’s a job he loves.
“It is a privilege and honor to have the opportunity to represent enlisted members and their families,” he said. “If you bring an issue to our attention that needs a Department of Defense-level solution, we do our best to come up with one.”
what do we need to go camping?
Question by : what do we need to go camping?
So me and my brothers just got a tent, and we really want to become a camping family.
We now have a tent, a portable gas stove, cooking utensils, chairs, sleeping bags, what else do we need to go camping for a few days?
Best answer:
Answer by Splash Frog – Suspended again.
Food, cell phone, first aid kit, GPS if you have one.. Knife, axe, chainsaw.. Some sort of cutting tool. You will need it for firewood. Or, just be lazy like me and buy firewood to take with you..
Also a shovel, to bury your fire pit and make sure it’s out before you leave. It’s also good to dump your cooler on it just to make sure.

CUTLINE: Ground is broken on the Camp Humphreys Conference and Dining Center, which is scheduled for completion in July 2014.
Camp Humphreys breaks ground on Conference and Dining Center for Soldiers, civilians and families stationed in Korea
CAMP HUMPHREYS –Army officials broke ground on a .5 million project to construct the Camp Humphreys Conference and Dining Center here, May 16.
“This building will be a centerpiece for people to gather and will provide us a capability to meet the needs of our growing community,” said Col. Joseph P. Moore, United States Army Garrison Humphreys commander. “This is something we’ll need here as Camp Humphreys grows into one of the primary hubs of U.S. Forces in Asia.”
The project, slated for completion in mid-July 2014, will include a large Conference Center and banquet hall, a name-brand restaurant, an amphitheater, a covered deck, a game room, outdoor decks and an atrium. Moore noted that the combined banquet hall-conference center will have its own kitchen facility – providing U.S. Forces in Korea a place to hold military balls, large meetings and conferences.
The Conference and Dining facility has been on the drawing board for more than 10 years. It is the largest Non-Appropriated Fund construction project in the Army and will be paid for through Soldier-generated dollars.
Home to the 2nd Infantry Division’s combat aviation brigade and the Army’s most active overseas airfield, the number of Soldiers stationed at Camp Humphreys is expected to grow in the coming years by 238 percent, from 6,670 to 22,497, and the number of families is on track to grow by 1,270 percent.
As part of its transformation, U.S. Forces Korea will relocate from areas in and north of Seoul, to two enduring hubs south of the Han River; the northwest/Pyeongtaek hub, consisting mainly of USAG-Humphreys and Osan Air Base; and the southeast /Daegu hub, comprised mainly of USAG Daegu and Chinhae Naval Base.
Moore talked about planning a project of this size and expressed his appreciation for the support IMCOM leaders provided throughout the process.
“The construction is actually the easy part, compared to all of the planning and programming required to get us where we are today,” Moore said. “We wouldn’t be here today, were it not for the vital support we received from the leadership at Installation Management Command.”
Moore will be retiring from the Army next month, but said he made it a personal goal to break ground on the center before he departed.
USAG Humphreys Deputy Command Mark Cox also participated in the ceremony and commented on the importance of preparing for the planned influx of Soldiers, civilians and family members in the coming years.
“As Humphreys expands, so too will our need for additional conference, entertainment and dining facilities” said Cox. “The garrison is committed to providing our community the services and support they need while stationed here.”
Ceremony narrator Sean McManus noted the wide impact the project will have.
“This facility will provide dozens of jobs to our Korean partners and provide a facility second-to-none for our Soldiers, Family members, and both American and Korean civilian employees,” he said. “This is another example of our commitment to the long-term friendship between the U.S. and people of South Korea.
Don Claycomb, Humphreys Director of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, echoed Moore’s sentiments about the long-term impact of the new facility.
“Camp Humphreys will be growing by leaps and bounds over the next few years, and breaking ground on this new facility now means that we will be ready to meet many of their needs when they arrive. A major portion of the planning process was looking at the future, identifying perceived needs and building a facility that will meet those needs. With the amount of time and money involved between today’s ground-breaking and the actual start of operations, we wanted to get it right the first time.”
Claycomb praised the work of the entire Community in helping move the Conference and Dining Center from paper to the actual start of construction.
“This didn’t just happen,” he said. “The Command, Director of Public Works and, of course, our FMWR team headed by Business Operations Division Chief Mike Ross spent countless hours in developing the plan. Now it’s up to the Seoyong Construction Co. to turn the vision into reality.”
Seoyong is one of Korea’s leading construction firms and has built many structures and facilities throughout the Korean peninsula, including several World Cup Stadiums major bridges and convention facilities.
“I think we’re in good hands with Seoyong,” Claycomb said, “and, like everyone else, I will be excited to watch the dream grow into reality over the next two years.”

Not just fit and finish, Pango make a second blower tube and hide it if not use. We make the two tubes on different of the bouncer so that could fit the power location. Looking down the road you will find you need a second inflation tube. We want to make sure clients could use the bouncer convenient.
Stronger Baffles
Baffles that are secured by a 840 denier material that provides the MAXIMUM strength of the internal baffling of every inflatables. This material upgrade is unmatched by anyone else in the industry. This material is key to the overall durability of the products we sell.
D Ring Expose
Take a close look at the construction of the "d" rings in the products we sell. A tether system is only as strong as its weakest link. Tether points on the inflatable are extremely durable. The "d" ring tethering System have been laboratory-tested and certified by Professional Engineers for use on all giant slides and all other types of inflatables.
Vinyl(PVCTarpaulin) Expose
At Pango Inflatable, the only products we sell are constructed from the finest coated vinyl. Unlike other vinyl producers, the Coated Vinyl are Lead-Free in addition to meeting the EN71 test by SGS. Lead-Free vinyl are a standard that has been that way since day one. Exposure to lead is dangerous to children. The products Pango Inflatable sell are safe from the effects of lead. As for durability, the materials are a weft inserted substrate, which makes any possible rips virtually impossible.
No Wax Surfaces
We provide removable sliding surfaces for every slides we made, While other only provide the normal vinyl, Inflatable vinyl is not naturally slippery, therefore, waxing has become a normal preparation for getting a slide ready for use. The removable sliding surface found the on the products we sell is a high polished urethane coating, which in turn reduces the need to wax.
Zipper with Flaps
Unlike others, Pango Inflatable sells products that are easy to use. For example, the deflation zipper utilizes a Velcro flap that covers the zipper, thus, less air is lost and zippers are not exposed to abrasion or mischief.
Blower Tube Strap
While most manufacturers tie their blower inflation tubes to the blower system, however, the products Pango Inflatable sells, utilizes a universal sleeve with a cinching Velcro strap. One- handed operation keeps the tube securely attached to the blower system.
Liquid Laminator
DWe do the Digital Printing in our factory, unlike most factory here in China, they do the printing outside and could not control the delivery time and the quality. igitally printed graphics are one thing, keeping those beautiful images durable as well scratch and fade resistant is quite another. Every digital image used within an inflatable sold by Pango Inflatable is clear-coated with a special liquid laminate that is vulcanized to the vinyl surface.
Finger-Safe Netting
Most bouncer manufacturers use 1" or 2" netting. A child bouncing can easily catch their fingers in that size of netting, thus serious injuries can happen. Only the Pango Inflatable could provide netting that even a small child’s finger cannot penetrate. Yet, the netting is still transparent enough to allow for easy viewing.
Removable Covers
Virtually every area that your customers step, slide or climb upon is on a replaceable & easily removable vinyl cover. From climbing stairs, to entrance tunnel sleeves to sliding surfaces, Pango Inflatable only sells products that are designed for high-volume traffic.
Safety Door on Bouncers
Worried about children possibly falling out of a bouncer? Don’t be. We got 3 points of reinforcement on the entrance of the bouncer which make the entrance very strong. Also we add the step outside the entrance following the AU and USA standards of jumping castle.
On-Staff Engineering and Designing
We do reinforce stitching at the fixion of D-ring. Four stitching line will share the tension of the bouncer. This made the D-ring last much longer and stronger. Other factory use other design of the fixion, but will not good for the tension sharing. Could find the differnce in the attached photos.
Cushion Designs
We do cushion between the wall and the base. When the kids bounce on the bouncer this parts bear most of the pressure, so this new design will make this parts much more strong and safety, while other factory only stitch to the base.
